GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Monday reassigned defenseman Adam Almquist (AHLM-kwihst) from HV 71 (Sweden) to the Grand Rapids Griffins. Additionally, the Griffins signed forward Alan Quine (KWIGHN) and defenseman Richard Nedomlel (NEE-duhm-ehl) to amateur tryouts.

Almquist, 21, was Detroit’s seventh selection (210th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. The Jonkoping, Sweden, native played in 42 games with HV 71 of the Swedish Elitserien this season, posting 11 points (3-8—11) and 26 penalty minutes. In 122 professional contests, the 5-11, 174-pound defenseman has 35 points (5-30—35) and 68 penalty minutes.

Quine, 19, finished second on the OHL’s Peterborough Petes with 70 points (30-40—70) in 65 contests. A native of Belleville, Ontario, Quine was Detroit’s fourth choice (85th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. In 198 career OHL games between Kingston and Peterborough, the 5-11, 181-pound center has racked up 151 points (67-84—151) and 35 penalty minutes.

Nedomlel, 18, more than quadrupled his offensive output as a rookie during his second year with the WHL’s Swift Current Broncos, ranking second among the team’s defensemen with 46 points (10-36—46) in 72 games. The Prague, Czech Republic, native also recorded 83 penalty minutes and eight power play goals. The 6-4, 227-pound defenseman was Detroit’s eighth selection (175th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

The trio joins Grand Rapids as it prepares for a three-in-three this weekend. The Griffins will start with back-to-back home games on Friday at 7 p.m. versus Charlotte and Saturday at 7 p.m. versus Oklahoma City, before traveling to Toronto for a 3 p.m. start on Sunday.
