David Van Andel played a prominent role in bringing professional hockey back to Grand Rapids in 1996. He is co-owner and chairman of the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Van Andel is chairman/CEO of The Van Andel Institute for Education and Medical Research. Van Andel serves as chairman of Twinlab Corp. In this role, he is leading the company to become the world's pre-eminent supplier of natural and organic products. He is also a member of Amway's Board of Directors and serves on its Executive, Governance and Audit committees.
Van Andel is active in many business and community organizations in Grand Rapids, including the Grand Rapids Right Place Program, the Hope College Board of Directors and the Economic Club of Grand Rapids, serving as a past chairman.
He and his wife, Carol, have four children.
